| I would like to awaken the heart of the community in regard to saving the Jewish neshomos of children with Down Syndrome. These children need a highly specialized education, and therefore were forced to attend public school until now as no regular yeshiva had the capacity to accept them. The adverse effects of attending public shcool, surrounded by gentile influence, and the damaging impact it has on the household are self-evident.
In order to fill this need, community activists and educators took it upon themselves to establish a place with a well-rounded Jewish education for the special boys in our community. With much help from Above, Yeshiva Bonim Lamokom was finally founded. Our children are now receiving a chinuch b'derech haTorah, which is a salvation for the whole family.
The expenses that are incurred by a mosad such as this are astronomical; the cost of educating one child is over twenty thousand dollars a year. Therefore, it is incumbent upon each person to help these dedicated activists by relieving them of the heavy financial burden that they are carrying on their shoulders.
Those who support and help the Yeshiva will be blessed with the three-verse-blessing in the Torah. May they see much nachas from their offspring and meet with success in all their endeavors.
